The University of Oklahoma’s School of Community Medicine identified a great need for a clinic in north Tulsa. This new facility, named in honor of the late basketball legend and Tulsa native, will provide specialty testing and treatment for Diabetes, Cardiac, and Oncology health concerns to a part of Tulsa that is currently underserved by the healthcare community. Funding for this project was a unique blend of a local philanthropy foundation, local hospitals, the University, and the State of Oklahoma. This facility will house an Urgent Care Clinic, Radiology with MRI and CT scan, an Ambulatory Care Clinic, a Specialty Care Clinic, an Ambulatory Surgery Center with Endoscopy Services, Chemotherapy treatment, and support services.

The new Wayman Tisdale Specialty Health
Center is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
registered project. Just as incorporating environmental smart design
was a priority, so too was participation and involvement of the members
of the community during the design phase. The McFarland Architects team met with community members and led discussions to
gather feedback and clearly communicate what the new facility offers.
